What We Do

    Psychological and Behavioral Supports

    Through our psychological and behavioral support services we help individuals with intellectual disabilities and mental illness to achieve optimal social and emotional health while fostering positive community involvement.

    Under direction of a certified, licensed psychologist, our staff is professionally trained to provide in-depth assessments and develop positive behavior plans that support each individual to become successfully integrated into the community and learn the skills necessary for socialization and coping based on their individual strengths and needs.

    Psychological and Behavioral Supports and Services

    • Experience in supporting people with a wide variety of diagnoses including mental retardation, traumatic brain injury, down syndrome, cerebral palsy, autism spectrum disorders, dual diagnosis (mental health disorders), and medically fragile conditions.
    • Focus on improvement in mood and better relationships with others
    • Comprehensive behavioral assessment
    • Development of a positive behavior support plan
    • Replacement of difficult behaviors through training in assertiveness, stress reduction, problem-solving, anger management, impulse control, and social skills
    • Training for staff and family on use of the behavior plan
    • Ongoing consultation and support for families, residential staff, and other providers
    • Participation in person-centered planning with the individual and support team
    • Regular medication review and diagnostic services
    • Individual counseling
    • Human rights committee review of behavior plans and medication
