What We Do

    Individual Home Supports

    Individuals reside in their own home or their family home, receiving varying levels of support based on individual needs. 

    SIL: Supported Independent Living
     
    The Supported Independent Living program at Ability Beyond Disability meets the specialized needs of individuals who want to live in a community setting and maintain the maximum level of independence. Supported Independent Living services help individuals exercise meaningful choice and control in their daily lives, including where and with whom to live.  
     
    • Individuals reside in their own rented/leased apartments, condos, and homes and receive varying levels of support from several hours a month or 24 hours a day
    • Individuals are supported to foster nurturing relationships, full membership in the community, and work toward their long-range personal goals.
    • Supported Independent Living services are offered for as long and as often as needed, with the flexibility required to meet a persons' changing needs over time.
     
    In-Home Supports
     
    Ability Beyond Disability will provide supports in the family home based on individual and family needs. These services may include assessments, skills training, recreation and transportation and other services as requested.
     
    • We work with individuals with Developmental Disabilities who live with their family/guardian.
    • The typical age range in 5 years or older
    • The specific types of services vary depending upon the individual’s needs and personal goals.
    • Care coordination, menu planning, cooking, grocery shopping, personal hygiene assistance/training, laundry, recreation, socialization, daily living skills, family training, household cleaning are among the supports available.
    • We provide daily documentation to the individuals we serve that includes time frames, progress on each goal worked on during that time
    • This is a unique system that involved the family each time we are present and allows dialogues on areas of progress and improvement.

     





Meet Celeste Celeste works at a local company where she helps with company mailings. She interacts with her coworkers and has made a number of friends. This job means more than a paycheck to Celeste; it has given her a great sense of pride and has really boosted her confidence.
